Rules of the Road ~ Driving in Ireland

All traffic drives on the left.

Always turn left into a Roundabout.

Seat belts must be worn by the driver and all passengers including rear seat passengers.

Do not drink and drive.

Mobiles phones must not be used while driving. It is illegal to hold a mobile phone while driving.

The general speed limit is 100km/h. In urban areas the speed limit is 50km/h. On motorways the speed limit is 120km/h. On regional roads the speed limit is 80km/h. The maximum speed limit for a car towing a trailer is 80km/h.
