The Park Hotel Dungarvan has launched its largest redevelopment since opening in 1990, unveiling a major investment aimed at boosting family stays and local jobs. The project, led by the award-winning Flynn Hotel Collection, expands guest capacity and upgrades outdoor and leisure facilities.

Scope of the expansion

The renovation is backed by a €4 million investment and adds 21 new family bedrooms, taking total rooms from 84 to 105. The hotel says the work will create approximately 30 new roles across accommodation, food and beverage, and operations.

Alongside the additional bedrooms, the programme includes a €150,000 enhancement of the hotel’s Garden Bar and further spending on leisure amenities at the Riverside Health Club.

Rooms built for families

The new family floor increases capacity for group stays. Ten rooms are configured for two adults, two children and a baby. Eleven rooms can host two adults, three children and a baby.

The mix also features a two-bedroom family suite designed for two adults, two children and a baby. Interiors draw on the local landscape, with warm earthy tones, heritage-inspired plaids, natural textures and durable finishes. Purpose-built bunk beds and bespoke family spaces are part of the design brief.

Why it matters for Dungarvan

The expansion positions the hotel to capture more family tourism as the town grows as a visitor destination. Improvements to the Garden Bar and the addition of a new sauna at the Riverside Health Club are likely to appeal to both overnight guests and local members.

The Flynn Hotel Collection has a track record in family hospitality. Its sister properties — Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny and The Old Ground Hotel in Ennis — have previously received national recognition for family-friendly services, and the Park Hotel’s new floor draws on that experience while being tailored to Dungarvan.

Management perspective

“We have designed these new rooms around the needs of today’s families while continuing to invest across the wider property to ensure every aspect of the guest experience continues to evolve,” said Declan Moriarty, general manager at Park Hotel Dungarvan.

“We look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests to enjoy everything the hotel and the wider region have to offer.”

“This is a landmark investment for the Park Hotel and reflects our confidence in both the future of the hotel and the continued growth of Dungarvan as a family destination,” said Declan Moriarty.
