Fans at last have certainty: Lewis Capaldi is set to headline Electric Picnic in Stradbally on **Friday, August 28**, organisers have confirmed, after hints from a recent tour merchandise leak prompted widespread speculation. The festival runs from **August 28–30, 2026**, and the announcement completes a high-profile bill already attracting major acts.

Organisers make it official

On Thursday the festival’s social channels named **Lewis Capaldi** as the Friday-night headliner, adding a light-hearted line: “You heard it here first (or second ).” They followed with, “We’re exactly two months away from the greatest weekend of the year! Let the planning begin!”

How the leak happened

The confirmation traces back to Capaldi’s recent concerts at Marlay Park. After the first of his two Marlay Park shows on Tuesday, June 23, fans inspecting tour T-shirts noticed an item listing “Electric Picnic, Laois, IE” with the date August 28 printed on the back.

That discovery accelerated online buzz. Radio presenter and influencer Kasey Campion wrote, “I will pass away if this real,” while other social posts ranged from hopeful to amused—one TikTok user quipped, “Very Tom Holland of him to leak it like this.” Several fans pointed to earlier sightings of the singer in the region as further support for the billing.

Line-up context and past cancellations

Electric Picnic organisers previously unveiled a roster that includes **Zara Larsson**, **Fontaines D.C.**, **Sombr**, **Role Model** and **CMAT**. Capaldi’s addition places him among the festival’s leading names for 2026.

Capaldi had been scheduled to appear at Electric Picnic in 2023 but withdrew for health reasons. Since then, occasional sightings and rumours have fuelled fan hopes that he would finally perform in Laois.

What this means for ticket-holders

With the Friday headliner now confirmed, attendees can refine plans for the weekend and finalise camping or travel arrangements. For many Irish fans the booking closes a chapter of anticipation that began after the earlier cancellation.

Organisers and fans alike are already turning their attention to August, when the festival’s three-day programme will unfold in Stradbally.
