A new three-level pub called the Stapleton has opened inside Powerscourt Townhouse Centre on South William Street, adding another option to Dublin’s central nightlife. The venue launched in February and now includes a lower-ground pub alongside ground-floor and mezzanine spaces.

Where and when

The Stapleton is situated within the historic Powerscourt complex close to the city centre. It offers extended hours across the week to serve both early-evening and late-night crowds.

  • Monday–Wednesday: 4pm–11:30pm
  • Thursday: 4pm–12:30am
  • Friday–Saturday: 1pm–2:30am
  • Sunday: 1pm–12:30am

Layout and atmosphere

The pub occupies three floors, with striking bars anchoring each level. Design cues draw on Georgian craftsmanship reinterpreted for a contemporary setting.

Timber tiering and heritage-style finishes frame the rooms, while open wood-burning fireplaces contribute a homely feel. Original artwork by Irish artist Lola Donoghue features throughout the space.

How the spaces work

The ground-floor Main Bar, which includes the mezzanine, operates on a walk-in basis only. The policy creates a more spontaneous, social environment and no reservations are taken for this area.

Upstairs, The Lounge offers reserved seating at specific times: Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 9:30pm, and Saturdays from 1pm to 9:30pm. Outside those hours the Lounge also accepts walk-ins.

Drinks and late-night offer

The Lounge provides table service and a cocktail-led menu, featuring house signatures alongside a curated list of spirits and wines. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the Stapleton hosts DJs and trades as a late-night venue within the Powerscourt rooms.

The Stapleton now joins a growing lineup of new and refurbished venues in Dublin’s city centre, offering visitors several different atmospheres across its three floors.
