Three Divilly sisters celebrate Galway’s Ladies’ All-Ireland win

Galway erupted in celebration on Sunday after the county’s club side lifted the All-Ireland Club Football title at Croke Park. For the Divilly family, the victory carried an extra charge: three sisters — Olivia, Niamh and Siobhan — all played in the win and shared the moment on the pitch.

Three sisters, one cup

The sisters embraced on the field after their side overcame Kerry, then posed for photos with their parents, Catherine and Michael, holding the Brendan Martin Cup aloft. Supporters across Galway watched as the family marked a rare collective achievement in club football.

Having three siblings on the same team is unusual at this level and added a personal dimension to the celebration. Teammates and fans noted how the sisters combined on the day to help secure the title.

Olivia on sharing the pitch

Olivia Divilly has previously spoken to EVOKE about how special it is to play alongside her siblings. She highlighted the experience of lining out with Niamh, who is a decade younger, as particularly meaningful.

“To get to play with her with a Galway jersey is so special. Siobhan and I are close in age and I’d have played with Siobhan all the way up…,” she said, adding that having Niamh alongside them brings extra joy. “So it’s lovely to have Niamh there as well. We’re always there to give each other some encouragement and I suppose constructive criticism.”

Olivia also laughed about the family dynamic off the field. “My little sister keeps me in check…I’m an absolute featherhead as everyone can testify. And I always forget some football gear,” she said.

“I never have the right kit with me. And Niamh always has spares, or she’ll always root out a spare set of something or other and save the day…she’s always happy to give a little bit of help when needed,” Olivia added, underlining the practical ways the siblings support one another.

What it means for the family

Beyond the trophy, the occasion offered a rare family milestone — parents Catherine and Michael witnessing three daughters compete and celebrate together on the national stage. For the Divillys, the victory will likely remain a defining memory for years to come.
