Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould said specially trained officers are supporting the family as inquiries proceed. She added that, while the circumstances remain under investigation, the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
A file will be prepared for the coroner as police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Earlier search in Suffolk for three-year-old
Days earlier, authorities in Suffolk recovered a body believed to be that of three-year-old Noah Woods, who was reported missing after separating from a family member at a playground on Merriam Close in Brantham.
More than 1,300 volunteers joined the search for the little boy, who was described as partially deaf and non‑verbal. The operation deployed sniffer dogs, specialist rescue teams and rescue helicopters before being stood down on Wednesday following the discovery.
Superintendent Tom Pearse said formal identification had not yet been completed, but the boy’s family had been informed. Police described the discovery as “not suspicious but unexplained” while they work to establish the full facts.
Pearse thanked the large number of community volunteers, saying their response reflected the county’s strong spirit and willingness to help in a crisis.
