Ennis County ClareEnnis - Inis - HolmEnnis is a busy market town situated on the River Fergus. Ennis is a town of narrow and winding streets. The ruins of the Franciscan Friary, founded is 1242 by the O'Briens of Thomond, is located in the centre of Ennis town. The tomb of Mc Mahon lies here, known as the Royal Tomb it displays carvings representing the Passion of our Lord. The column in the centre of the town is there to commemorate Daniel O'Connell, the county's representative in the House of Commons from 1828 to 1831.
