Location of Mountshannon
Mountshannon Village is located in the West of Ireland in County Clare. Situated on the shores of Lough Derg, Mountshannon is a beautiful and scenic village.
History of Mountshannon
From the harbour in Mountshannon boat trips are available to the Holy Island, Inis Cealtra, a famous monastic site with its roots in Christianity and pre-Christian times. The dominant feature on the island is an 80 foot tall round tower. You will also discover the remains of six Churches, a Holy Well, Bullaun Stones and a graveyard which is still used for local burials.
