At Gowran Park in Co. Kilkenny on Saturday, a striking orange midi dress earned nurse Roisin Logan the title of Best Dressed, turning heads during the race meeting. The bold look, chosen almost at the last minute, impressed style judge Marietta Doran and brought home a luxury weekend prize package.
The winning look
Logan chose a neon strapless midi with a pink floral detail across the bust that set her apart from the crowd. She finished the outfit with a matching hat from Hats By Caroline, a lip-shaped clutch found on Vinted, pink Lodi shoes and jewellery collected on trips to Spain.

She told EVOKE she had nearly changed plans before arriving. “This dress is not for everybody, and I had two options for the day; the other was a white and blue one. I was going to change in the car, but in the end I thought, I’ll go with the orange,” she said.
What the judge was looking for
Marietta Doran said she was focused on overall style, colour and attention to detail. “It’s all about the little details,” she added, pointing to accessories such as jewellery and clutches as deciding factors.
Doran herself wore a bright pink patterned suit from Carraig Donn, paired with a hat from Jennifer’s Emporium while judging the contest at the races.
Prize and reaction
Logan, who works in palliative care and spends weekdays in navy scrubs, said she relished the chance to dress up. She attended the event with her husband and called the win a delighted surprise: “I’m thrilled, I’ve never won anything. I’m always the bridesmaid, so I’m delighted to have won today.”
The Best Dressed prize includes a two-night stay with an evening meal at Lyrath Estate, a €1,000 gift card to MacDonagh Junction and a courtesy car for the weekend supplied by Boland Mazda Carlow.
