She married Liam Kerr in 2012; public records list him as her former husband. The couple had two surviving sons, Conor and Declan. Their daughter, Josie, died a few days after birth. Kyle is also survived by siblings Michael and Rory, and by nieces and nephews.
Education and career
Kyle studied history at Georgetown University and later earned a Master of Science in Early Education from Pace University. She spent her professional life focused on teaching and on efforts to improve schooling for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Illness, advocacy and achievements
In 2020 Kyle suffered a spinal cord injury that left her paralysed; the circumstances of the injury have not been publicly disclosed. In the years that followed she concentrated on advocacy for educational reform, particularly for students with disabilities and those facing social or economic barriers.

Her obituary highlighted her commitment to family and to social causes, noting her devotion to her children and her work on behalf of vulnerable students.
Sporting life and other interests
Those who knew her remember her competitive spirit from childhood — outrunning peers on playgrounds and playing soccer and lacrosse. As an adult she took up long-distance running and completed the 2019 Boston Marathon in heavy rain, finishing notably faster than her father had in the same race.
Official response and context
The Westwood Town Clerk told People that the cause of Kyle Kennedy’s death is pending. The family has not released further details.
Her death comes after recent confirmation that Saoirse Kennedy Hill’s 2019 death was caused by a fentanyl overdose, a reminder of earlier losses within the broader Kennedy family.
