Country star Drew Baldridge and Katie’s meet‑cute reads like a rom‑com

Drew Baldridge says his new record is as much about home as it is about music. With his album Farm Faith Family due on September 18 and a European tour planned that will include Ireland, the country singer credits his wife Katie as a steadying influence behind both his life and his songs.

How a barroom request became a life

The couple met in Illinois when Drew was playing an opening set at a bar while Katie was still at college. He remembers watching another artist perform when a woman at the end of the bar caught his eye.

An opening set in a local bar can be the start of something lasting.

She was talking to someone else, and when that man wandered off she slid down the stool and asked Drew to pretend they knew each other so the person would not return. It was the start of something that has now lasted more than a decade.

Turning a line into a song

One of the tracks on the new album, A Man Don’t, grew directly from a remark Katie made. The couple learned someone they knew had been unfaithful and, in conversation, Katie said, “a man don’t do that, that’s what boys do in high school.”

Drew told her the comment stuck with him. He wrote the song the following week and joked he probably should have given her co-writing credit.

Family life woven into the music

Katie’s presence shows up regularly in Drew’s work. Footage from their wedding was used in the music video for She’s Somebody’s Daughter, a song he wrote for her.

Family life and children are central themes in Drew’s music.

They have two young sons — a four-month-old and a three-year-old — and Katie has been part of his career from the beginning. When money was tight, she kept working to help the family through. Drew says she keeps him grounded, even as the touring life pulls him away from home.

The album: the three pillars

The record takes its title from the three themes at the heart of his life: farm, faith and family. Drew says he wanted listeners to get more of the man behind a single song people already knew him for.

He hopes the album will reveal how those three words shape the songs and the project as a whole.

Tour plans and an Irish date

Drew confirmed he will be announcing tour dates soon, and that the upcoming run will include shows in Ireland, the UK and across the EU. He and his team say they enjoyed their previous tour in Europe and are looking forward to returning.

Farm Faith Family is scheduled for release on September 18.
