Funeral arrangements have been published for Danielle O’Keane, a mother of two from Saval, Newry, who died after a rickshaw incident following a Westlife concert. The notice sets out viewing times and the details of a funeral mass and burial later this week.

Viewing and service details

The family said Danielle’s remains will lie in repose at her parents’ home at 25 Crohill Road, Newry, with viewing hours on Wednesday and Thursday from 1pm until 9pm. They requested a one-way approach to the house, entering from Hilltown Road and exiting via Benagh Road, and noted the property will be private on the morning of the funeral.

Her funeral mass is scheduled for Friday at 2.30pm in St. Joseph’s Church, Sheeptown, with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Family message in the funeral notice

The notice described Danielle as the “much loved wife” of Dave and the “dear mother” of her sons, Caolán and Cillian. It also named her parents, Michael and Pauline, and her brothers, Barry and her twin Sean. The family listed a wide circle of relatives and friends who mourn her loss.

What happened after the concert

Local reports say Danielle was travelling in a rickshaw with three friends after a performance at the 3Arena on Saturday, 26 September, when the vehicle struck the kerb. The funeral notice states she “died 1 October 2026 as the result of an accident.”

Tribute from Westlife

The band Westlife dedicated two songs to Danielle during a performance at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, singing “You Raise Me Up” and “Flying Without Wings” in her memory. Singer Shane Filan addressed the crowd, saying: “This song is sung tonight to everybody who has lost somebody they love and for Danielle. We are going to celebrate them all up here, right now,” as drones with red lights appeared above the stage.
