Former Kerry footballer Darragh Roche and his wife, Tegan, have welcomed their second child this week — a son the couple have named Beauden Roche. The arrival comes as a joyful milestone after a serious health scare the family experienced in recent years.

From sudden illness to recovery

In January 2025, Roche, a county championship winner and former senior Kerry panellist, felt sharp chest pains at home. Although he was reluctant to make a fuss, Tegan insisted on calling an ambulance and medics later confirmed he had suffered a heart attack.

Roche spent months recovering at home after his heart attack in January 2025.

He was treated in hospital and spent several months recovering. After that period, the couple married in Lisbon, surrounded by close family and friends.

Homecoming and family life

Their daughter, Isla, has been preparing to take on the role of big sister and was reportedly very excited for the new arrival. The family shared a few images on social media following the birth.

Speaking to EVOKE, Darragh said that both mum and baby are doing well. He confirmed the baby’s name and noted that they chose Beauden Roche, a name the family say carries the meaning “beautiful” or “handsome.”

The couple and their children are now settling in at home. Best wishes to Darragh, Tegan and Isla as they welcome the newest member of their family.
