Beauty influencer Bonnie Ryan has revealed a serious health scare that left her rushed to hospital just ten days after the birth of her first child. The incident, she says, followed heavy bleeding caused by a portion of the placenta remaining in her body.
Birth and the early days
Ryan and her husband, John Greenhalgh, welcomed a daughter, Winnie, in May. She described the labour—which lasted about 45 hours—as unexpectedly manageable, even saying it felt “surprisingly as enjoyable as it could be.”

She also recalled some difficult moments during delivery, including fainting and becoming unwell, but said the initial ten days at home went smoothly.
When the bleeding began
Ten days after leaving hospital, Ryan experienced severe bleeding. Medical staff later determined that a fragment of placenta had been retained, and the bleeding would not stop.
She said the situation worsened quickly and her husband called an ambulance. In a moment of alarm she feared for her life and urged John to look after their baby. “You gotta promise me you’ll mind her, John,” she recalled telling him.
Paramedics, surgery and support
Ryan described feeling unsettled by the arrival of the ambulance crew, who suggested calling for a female responder when they encountered her in the bathroom.

She was transported to hospital and underwent a minor operation to address the retained placenta. Ryan said the procedure went well and that her mother joined them the following day.
Public account
She recounted the episode during a conversation with her sister Lottie on the podcast No One Else Will Listen, speaking candidly about the shock of the postpartum emergency and the quick medical response that followed.
