A deceased puppy found inside a public toilet at Moville Shorefront has rocked the local community and prompted appeals for information. The discovery, made by a council caretaker around ten days ago, has been described by local officials as deeply disturbing.

How the discovery came to light

The body of the young dog was located in the public toilet block on the Moville waterfront, a site used by residents and visitors. A council caretaker made the finding roughly ten days ago and reported it to the relevant authorities.

Cathaoirleach of Inishowen, Cllr Martin Farren — a Moville resident — called the incident a callous act and urged anyone with knowledge to speak to the Gardaí. “To think that any person or people could do such a thing is totally unacceptable,” he said.

Council and animal welfare response

Donegal County Council confirmed it is aware of the incident and has referred the matter to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA). The council said animal welfare is taken seriously and that it will assist investigators as required.

The authority acknowledged the distress the reports have caused in the area and reiterated its support for any inquiry led by law enforcement or animal welfare bodies.

Call for witnesses

Local officials and animal welfare advocates are urging anyone who saw unusual activity around the Moville Shorefront toilets in the days before the discovery to come forward. They have asked the public to contact the NSPCA or An Garda Síochána with any information that might help.

Those with tips are asked to report them directly to the relevant organisations so the matter can be properly investigated and, if necessary, appropriate action taken.
