Bank of Ireland has agreed a €72 million refinancing package with the MHL Hotel Collection, backing both the Moxy Hotel Dublin City and the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa in County Wicklow. The deal, which includes a €36 million increase in facilities, is presented by the lender as part of its ongoing support for the hospitality group.

Scope of the refinancing

The agreement provides fresh funding for two flagship properties while increasing the group’s overall banking facilities by €36 million. Bank of Ireland described the transaction as a continuation of its financing relationship with MHL.

The new facilities are structured to support the group’s operational and asset needs across its portfolio, the bank said. No further financial terms beyond the headline figures were disclosed.

Bank and management reactions

Bank of Ireland executives highlighted their long-term relationship with MHL and said the latest package includes direct funding for the Moxy and Powerscourt hotels. The bank framed the move as part of a broader commitment to established hospitality operators.

MHL leadership expressed appreciation for the lender’s support. Paul Higgins, a partner at the hotel group, thanked Bank of Ireland for its continued backing as the company advances its development plans.

MHL’s footprint and sector context

Founded in 2013, the MHL Hotel Collection now operates 14 hotels with more than 2,300 rooms across the island of Ireland. The group is Ireland’s second-largest hotel operator by size, with eight properties in Dublin where it is the largest regional operator, and one hotel in Northern Ireland.

In its statement, Bank of Ireland also noted that lending activity in Ireland’s hospitality sector remains focused on established operators with solid asset bases and experienced management teams. The bank said such groups are attracting continued investment as the sector seeks stability and growth.
