A new chapter begins for Great Southern Killarney

The Great Southern Killarney marked a new phase in its history this month with “The Good Times Return”, an invitation-only evening that celebrated the hotel’s evolution into a luxury destination. The event brought together partners, friends and special guests for a night of food, drink and a glimpse of the property’s next chapter.

An evening of food, drink and tribute

Guests arrived for a Champagne and canapé reception that included a symbolic toast at 18:54, made in honour of the year the hotel first opened. The reception gave way to a dinner in Arbour, where a menu rooted in Kerry produce and seasonal flavours showcased the culinary team’s creativity.

The refreshed restaurant is presented as a key element of the hotel’s broader dining strategy, pairing considered plate design with attentive service. Later, celebrations moved to Brownes Bar for the launch of the hotel’s bespoke Four Pillars Whiskey, accompanied by live music and conversation.

A brand built on contrast

The evening also introduced the hotel’s new brand positioning, Splendour, Untamed. The concept seeks to marry the building’s historic grandeur with Killarney’s wild landscapes, aiming to balance refined hospitality and a spirit of exploration.

Organisers extended that theme into the following morning, offering yoga and falconry experiences that underline a widening guest programme spanning wellness, nature, dining and entertainment.

Leadership and direction

“The Great Southern Killarney has always been a place where people come together, and it was a real pleasure to welcome so many friends and partners to celebrate this important chapter in our story,” said Jamie Power, general manager at The Great Southern Killarney.

The celebration comes after a landmark year for the hotel, which was officially recognised as a five-star property in 2026, further positioning it within Ireland’s luxury hospitality sector.

Hotel leaders say that despite these changes, the core commitment to personal service and a strong connection to Killarney remains. With renewed focus on distinctive dining and curated experiences, the property aims to continue hosting memorable occasions for years to come.
