Ballyfin has been named the No. 1 hotel in Ireland by Condé Nast Traveler, topping both the magazine’s UK and US Readers’ Choice lists, the publication announced this week. The ranking is drawn from more than 798,867 reader responses across the United States and United Kingdom.
What the award means
The Readers’ Choice Awards are among the industry’s longest-running reader-driven honours. Condé Nast Traveler compiles votes from its audience to identify destinations and properties travellers most want to revisit.

Condé Nast Traveler ranks Ballyfin as Ireland’s best hotel

Being listed as the top Irish hotel in both editions signals strong, consistent praise from an international readership, and underlines Ballyfin’s reputation in luxury hospitality.
Ballyfin’s setting and facilities
Located at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, Ballyfin reopened as a hotel in 2011 after an eight-year restoration of the original house. The property is a member of Relais & Chateaux and appears in Ireland’s Blue Book.

It offers just 21 bedrooms across a 614-acre estate, a private scale that guests say delivers uncommon discretion and seclusion.
On-site amenities include Michelin-standard dining, an indoor pool and a spa. Outdoor and country pursuits are a major part of the guest experience.

Management response and honours
Seamus Crotty, managing director of Ballyfin, welcomed the recognition and said it reflects the team’s commitment to high standards and service. He also thanked guests for their ongoing support.
In addition to the Condé Nast Traveller accolades, Ballyfin holds the Condé Nast Traveller Triple Crown award and has received three Michelin Keys plus a Michelin Star, distinctions that contribute to its standing among global luxury destinations.
