CBRE Hotels and JLL, acting for Tifco Hotel Group, have confirmed the sale of the Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Holiday Inn Express at Dublin Airport to the MHL Hotel Collection. The move brings two airport-edge properties into MHL’s Irish portfolio and marks a notable expansion for the group.

Deal and properties

The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport comprises **209 purpose-designed bedrooms and suites**, while the adjacent **Holiday Inn Express Dublin Airport** offers **214 guestrooms**. Both operate under IHG affiliation and sit within the airport’s core activity zone.

CBRE highlighted the hotels’ strategic location and brand ties as key factors in the transaction. Paul Collins, head of hotels at CBRE Ireland, said the properties occupy a “prime position in the heart of Dublin Airport,” while also benefitting from a “tranquil parkland setting.”

Market context

Collins added that the expected removal of the current 32 million annual passenger cap at Dublin Airport is important for Ireland’s tourism and international connections, and that the timing makes the airport market attractive for new investment.

The buyer

The MHL Hotel Collection, founded in 2013 by John Malone, Paul Higgins and John Lally, will add these two hotels as its 15th and 16th properties in Ireland. The group has positioned the purchase as a major step in its Irish expansion.

“This is our most significant transaction for ten years, and shows our continued commitment to the Irish hotel market,” said Paul Higgins of The MHL Hotel Collection. He said the company looks forward to welcoming the hotels’ staff into the MHL family and serving both existing and new customers.

Next steps

The sale remains subject to regulatory clearances, including approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). The parties expect the transaction to complete by the end of summer, pending those approvals.
