Ireland captain Gaby Lewis says her side arrive in England this week in good spirits and ready for a tough challenge against one of the world’s top teams. The three-match tour begins in Leicester and finishes on Sunday in Worcester, with Ireland hoping recent form can carry them through.

Momentum from a strong summer
Lewis pointed to a successful summer for the team and described a confident camp. She said, “Confidence is high,” adding that recent results have helped morale.

That optimism follows Ireland’s win over the West Indies in Clontarf. Rain curtailed the match while the visitors were chasing 142; at the stoppage the West Indies were 99-5 after 14.1 overs and Ireland were declared winners under the DLS method.
Captain’s outlook
Lewis said the side had targeted the West Indies during the ODI series, and that the victory provided a clear lift ahead of the trip to England. She believes the squad are eager to build on that progress and play with freedom.
With England a stern opponent, Ireland know the fixtures will be demanding. The tour offers a chance to test progress on English pitches and to gauge how far the team has come this season.
