Could Joanne McNally be about to leave Celebrity Traitors?

Celebrity Traitors ended Friday’s episode on a tense cliffhanger as actress Sharon Rooney and comedian Joanne McNally faced equal votes at the roundtable — and the deciding ballot rested with content creator and confirmed traitor King Kenny. The programme cut to credits before viewers learned which of the two would be banished.

Both Rooney and McNally were put under the microscope during the latest episode and finished the roundtable tied. That forced a second vote, with the ultimate choice falling to the player holding the casting power.

Viewers were left waiting because the episode ended immediately after that final ballot was made. The unresolved outcome created fresh suspense around who will leave next.

How the deciding vote came about

King Kenny held what producers described as a double vote after being handed a dagger during a mission. He was selected among the contestants deemed most trusted, alongside two other players.

The other two who received that trust designation were Maya Jama and James Acaster, both of whom are also traitors in the current game.

Miranda Hart was removed earlier in the episode

The episode also saw Miranda Hart targeted by the traitors and eliminated for being, in their words, “a good detective.”

Explaining the decision, James Acaster said: “She’s a good detective, she’s looking at all of us, she is the most likely to wake up one day and say, ‘it’s Maya, Kenny and James’.”

Hart reacted with disbelief on learning she had been picked off, replying, “No. Absolutely not.” She added she was frustrated with herself for focusing on doubts about Joanne earlier in the day: “I am so cross with myself, I was wholly focusing on my Joanne issue.”

Emotionally, Hart said appearing on the show had given her a chance to return to work and to enjoy life again: “get back and do the thing that I love professionally, and do the things I love personally, wandering round the Scottish Highlands and connecting in nature. There were times I didn’t think that would be possible again.”

Hart has previously discussed long-term fatigue linked to a Lyme disease diagnosis.

After the elimination, Joanne McNally described Hart as “really powerful” and said, “Miranda was like the mother.”

Celebrity Traitors continues on BBC One.
