Headford is the popular angling resort for the eastern shore of Lough Corrib. The area is also rich in archaeological monuments, ranging from prehistoric burial grounds, Iron Age stone enclosures and castles. Close to the town is the Franciscan friary of Ross Errilly, situated on the banks of the Black River.
