Dunquin - Dún Chaoin - Beautiful Fort

Dunquin is situated at the head of the Dingle Peninsula. Dunquin is part of the Gaeltacht where everyone speaks the native Irish language. Dunquin is famous as the setting of the film Ryans Daughter. It is one of the ports of departure for the Blasket Islands and the Ionad an Bhlascaoid Mhoir (The Blasket Centre) is located in this area. East of the village is an ancient burial ground for the Spanish who lost their lives off the Blaskets in 1588.
