Top-ranked day trips
The study places Spike Island at the top of the list, scoring 11.5 out of 20. It is followed closely by the Cliffs of Moher (11.3) and the Giant’s Causeway (11.2). These results underline the continuing appeal of Ireland’s dramatic coastlines and historic sites for family outings.

How the ranking was compiled
AttractionTickets.com created the Big Day Out Index by assessing more than 30 popular attractions across the Republic and Northern Ireland. The index combines Google ratings, visitor reviews and online search demand to score destinations for a 24-hour family trip.
Oliver Brendon, chief executive of AttractionTickets.com, said the aim was to identify places that consistently deliver strong visitor experiences. He added the team analysed hundreds of thousands of reviews to single out locations that represent good value for time and money.
County Cork among the winners
County Cork performed particularly well in the index. In addition to Spike Island, the county is represented by Fota Wildlife Park, Blarney Castle and Charles Fort, making it one of the strongest counties for day-trip options.
