Ticket marketplace AttractionTickets.com analysed more than 30 popular day-trip attractions across Ireland and Northern Ireland to produce its Big Day Out Index. The study combined Google ratings, online reviews and search demand to measure which sites offer the most consistently positive visitor experiences.

Top results and what they reveal
Spike Island in Cork emerged as the top pick, scoring 11.5 out of 20. Close behind were the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast (11.3) and the Giant’s Causeway in Antrim (11.2). These results underline the continuing appeal of Ireland’s natural landscapes and historic sites for family outings.
The index highlights a mix of attractions: world-class scenery sits alongside museums, castles and wildlife parks. County Cork in particular performed strongly, with Spike Island joined by Fota Wildlife Park, Blarney Castle and Charles Fort among the highest-ranked destinations.
What the organisers say
Oliver Brendon, CEO of AttractionTickets.com, said the index was designed to remove guesswork when families plan a day out. He noted that analysing visitor feedback and search trends helps identify destinations that reliably deliver good experiences.
Brendon added that attractions such as Spike Island and Titanic Belfast continue to resonate with visitors, whether they are seeking dramatic views at the Cliffs of Moher or immersive history at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum.
