A new nightclub called Odyssey will open on June 26 in the centre of Cork, aiming to revive the city’s late-night scene with a mix of classic dance-floor energy and modern production. Walsh said the team invested in a high-spec sound system and stage visuals, including a 24ft screen to accompany performances. “We’re going [for an] old school dance club [vibe] with a modern twist,” he told EVOKE, adding that the line-up of DJs has been carefully selected.
Opening night details
The official launch on June 26 begins with a pre-party hosted by Monster Energy from 8pm to 10pm. The first 100 guests will be offered complimentary drinks on arrival, and staff will be providing free tattoos — permanent designs — for those who opt in.
At 10pm the doors will open to the club proper for its inaugural night of dancing and DJs.
Who can go and when
Odyssey will split its age policy during the week: Monday to Thursday evenings are open to 18-year-olds and over, with a student-friendly focus. From Friday through Sunday the venue will operate as a 21-plus environment.
Context for Cork’s nightlife
Walsh framed the opening as a response to a challenging period for nightlife in Ireland. He said he hopes the new club, together with existing venues in the city, will help “breathe new life into Cork’s nightlife.”
He also referenced a long-discussed proposal for a 6am licence, which has been talked about since 2022 but has not been implemented. Walsh described the licence as a potential boost for late-night trading, but the proposal remains at the discussion stage.
