Pamela Flood and her husband Ronan Ryan are grieving after the sudden death of Ronan’s son Zach, who died following a short illness while under care at Beaumont Hospital. The family has released funeral arrangements and asked that donations be made to a charity close to Zach’s work and interests.
Family notices and funeral plans
The family’s notice on RIP.ie described Zach’s passing as an “unexpected but peaceful” death, adding that he was surrounded by loved ones and cared for by staff at Beaumont Hospital. It lists his parents as Andrea Chard and Ronan Ryan, and names grandparents Anne, Gerry and Mary.

Zach’s funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Clontarf on Saturday, 1 August, at 10am. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dublin Simon Community Outreach Service, a cause the notice says was important to Zach.
Those left behind
Ronan and Pamela share three younger children — Harrison, Elsie and Gracie — and Zach is also remembered as a brother to Lee, Gill and Jodie. The notice refers to Pamela as his stepmother and mentions Zach’s girlfriend, Izzy.
The family paid tribute to his caring nature and to the people he supported through his work with Dublin Simon Outreach, saying he will be “very sadly missed” by his parents, siblings, grandparents, wider family and friends.
Community reactions and memories
Local organisations and friends expressed their condolences. Clontarf Rugby Club, for which Zach played from underage level and was part of the 2021/22 AIL-winning squad, described members as devastated and offered deepest sympathies to his family.

Pamela Flood, a former television presenter, has previously spoken warmly about her relationship with Zach, telling a magazine before her wedding that he had made “being a stepmum an absolute pleasure.” She praised his kindness and the example he set for his younger siblings.
About Ronan Ryan
Ronan Ryan is known locally as a restaurateur. He previously ran three establishments, including the Town Bar and Grill on Kildare Street, and opened Le Comptoir Café in Donnybrook in 2021. Media reports in 2022 also linked him with a potential takeover of Shelbourne Social.
The family’s announcement and the club’s statement have prompted an outpouring of sympathy across the community as preparations continue for the funeral service in Clontarf.
