Seán ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald has publicly confirmed his relationship with fellow Love Island contestant Lola Deal, sharing images on Instagram and prompting messages of support from former co-stars. The union links a reality-show romance with real-life plans that include matches, races and a possible move to Ireland.
How he asked — and how they announced it
The couple, who paired up on day one of Love Island, stayed together throughout the series. Fitzgerald marked the milestone by decorating a room with red balloons reading: “Will you be my girlfriend?”

He then posted photographs of the pair on Instagram, captioning the pictures: “She’s officially a wag”. Several former islanders reacted, with Priya writing, “Buzzing for you guys”, Namibia adding, “Yay, love to see it”, and Finley commenting “Yes Brother” alongside some red hearts. Lola herself posted, “Happiest Girl Alive”.
From the villa to the GAA pitch
The 25-year-old Galway footballer has been balancing his sporting commitments with the new relationship. Last weekend Lola travelled to Ireland and made her first appearance on the sidelines as Fitzy returned to play for his local club, Barna.

He was named in the starting 15 for the club’s first-round tie against Caltra in the Galway Senior Football Championships, a fixture held at Athenry’s Kenny Park. Lola was among the supporters in the crowd.
After the match the couple spent time on the Aran Islands in the company of his sister Katie and her boyfriend.
Plans, publicity and the weather
They also attended the Galway Races on Friday. Lola, who is from Kent, has said she intends to move to Ireland for Fitzgerald — though she teased that the country’s weather will be an adjustment.
Speaking to Alan Clarke at the races, she joked: “[I was excited to move] until I saw the weather!” Gesturing at the cloudy but dry sky, she added, “Everyone’s saying this is alright and I’m saying, ‘No it’s not’. I will still move, but as long as he knows it’s how much I love him that I’m giving up the sun for him.”
For now, the couple appear to be navigating life after the villa with family outings and public appearances, while supporters from their Love Island cast and local community watch on.
