Midnight downpour fails to dampen Zara Larsson’s sequinned fans at Electric Picnic

Zara Larsson drew one of the festival’s most vivid crowds to Stradbally, turning a grey Electric Picnic afternoon into a glittering pop spectacle. Her set combined viral choreography, audience singalongs and a moment on stage for a birthday girl that summed up the fanfare.

A colourful crowd and festival fashion

The Swedish singer’s following arrived in a wash of ocean blues and neon pinks, many sporting sequins and metallics. Festival-goers told reporters they sourced looks from ASOS and Vinted, favouring jewel-encrusted cape tops, ruched shorts and chunky belts.

Streams of glitter spilled out of the Main Arena and into the food area, underlining Larsson’s lasting appeal. The atmosphere made it clear that, even in damp weather, her songs still inspire mass dressing-up and choreography.

Fans on stage and a viral routine

Midway through the set Larsson invited three young fans up to perform the now-familiar dance for “Lush Life”. One of the children was celebrating a birthday; Larsson prompted the crowd to join in, creating a spontaneous celebration onstage.

The routine, widely shared on social platforms, went down well with the Irish audience. Cheers and whistles echoed across the festival site as the group finished the high-energy sequence.

Other Friday highlights

Earlier on, Little Mix alum Jade Thirlwall opened the evening with a set that included her track “Angel of My Dreams”. Some festival outfits overlapped between sets, with plenty of sparkle on show throughout the site.

Headliner Lewis Capaldi closed Friday night, balancing self-deprecating banter with emotional songs. He performed a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”, noting that Irish crowds sing it louder than anywhere else he’s played.

The Scottish singer — who attended Electric Picnic as a punter in 2025 — ended his appearance with fireworks above Stradbally. Despite the rain, the weekend’s performances suggested summer wasn’t over yet for festivalgoers.
