Lorraine Keane’s stay at Electric Picnic was disrupted after heavy rain left her glamping accommodation soaked. What began as anticipation for a festival weekend turned into a search for dry bedding and answers from event staff.
Arrival to Stradbally and an unexpected problem
Keane travelled to Stradbally on Friday with thousands of other festivalgoers, sharing an initial look inside what appeared to be a comfortable glamping tent. That impression did not last long.

On discovering the sleeping area, she filmed the scene and warned viewers: “So much for my excitement to get here, the beds are actually wet, the pillows are wet, the duvets are wet, the mattresses are actually drenched.” Keane, who recently sold her Monkstown home, said the state of the bedding felt unsafe.
Attempts to get the issue addressed
She and her partner, Peter, reported the problem to festival staff and went on to enjoy the event. When they returned late that night — around a quarter to one — the bedding was still wet, she said.

Staff told the couple they were next in line to be helped. In a later update, Keane described how two young staff members assessed the tents and replaced only one bed, after saying one was far more soaked than the others.
Frustration for guests and crew
Keane acknowledged that staff were working long hours under difficult conditions, but said the situation left everyone unhappy. She summed up the mood bluntly: the experience was dreadful for both guests and workers.
Reflecting on the health risk, she added: “You could actually get really sick if you stayed in that,” and expressed the hope that conditions would improve for the rest of the weekend.
