Maslow Capital backs JMK Group’s Cork hotel with €21.3m facility

Show summary Hide summary

Maslow Capital has agreed a €21.3 million senior development loan to fund JMK Group’s construction of a 103-key extended-stay hotel in Cork’s Georgian Quarter. The scheme will combine a protected early 19th-century terrace with a new six-storey rear extension and is planned to open under Hilton’s Tapestry Collection.

Heritage building adapted for modern stays

The development will retain the original façade of a terrace designed by Cork-born architect Sir Thomas Deane while integrating contemporary accommodation to meet branded extended-stay standards. The project team will refurbish the historic frontage and attach a purpose-built, six-storey block to the rear to provide the hotel’s guestrooms and services.

City-centre location and timeline

Positioned in the heart of Cork, the hotel is within walking distance of cultural attractions and major transport links, aiming to attract both business and leisure travellers. Practical completion is targeted for December 2027, with the scheme intended to add a differentiated, branded extended-stay option to the city-centre market.

Developer track record and lender rationale

JMK Group, a family-run hospitality developer established in 2009, develops, owns and operates hotels under international franchises including Hilton, IHG and Marriott. The group’s portfolio totals roughly 2,000 rooms across the UK and Ireland, with additional rooms currently under construction.

JMK already has an active presence in Cork, having delivered and operated the Moxy & Residence Inn Cork, which the company cites as part of its regional experience.

Maslow Capital said the financing reflects its focus on supporting experienced hospitality sponsors delivering complex, heritage-led developments in strong regional locations. The lender highlighted alignment between the site, the branded proposition and the project’s commercial plan as factors behind the loan decision.

Operational fit

The hotel will trade under the Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand, combining a heritage setting with the service and amenities expected of an internationally franchised product. Project backers expect the extended-stay format to fill a specific niche in Cork’s centre for guests needing longer visits or apartment-style facilities.
