Dublin’s Clontarf Castle has been named Castle Venue of the Year at this year’s Wedding Dates Awards, an annual ceremony held at Langtons Hotel in Kilkenny this month. The prize underlines the venue’s standing among Ireland’s wedding locations and its appeal to couples seeking a distinctive setting.
Awards night and industry recognition
The event, hosted by broadcaster and stylist Sonya Lennon, draws leading hoteliers, venue managers, suppliers and wedding specialists from across the country. Organisers say the awards celebrate excellence in service and venue experience within Ireland’s wedding industry.

Winners were chosen from a field of venues and suppliers judged on the quality of their offering to couples. For recipients, the accolade is both an industry endorsement and a promotional milestone.
What makes Clontarf Castle stand out
Clontarf Castle dates back to the 12th century and combines historic architecture with contemporary interiors. Inside, a rotating contemporary art gallery lines parts of the venue, while an airy atrium lobby opens onto manicured grounds.
The property also features professionally maintained landscaped gardens and an outdoor terrace used for ceremonies and receptions, offering couples a range of indoor and outdoor options for their day.
Management reaction
Sarah Flavin, the castle’s general manager, said the team were “thrilled to be awarded the coveted ‘Castle Venue of the Year’ title at this year’s awards.”
She added that working with couples on their wedding plans is both “a joy and a privilege,” and described Clontarf Castle as a place where “old and new” meet, providing a dramatic historical backdrop that couples can personalise for their celebrations.
